Bellingham, WA – McKissen + Company is proud to announce that co-founder and Chief Strategy and Communications Officer Dustin McKissen recently won the New York City Big Book Award for his novel, The Poor and The Haunted.
The book, released on October 31 by Texas-based publisher Black Rose Writing, has reached significant heights on several domestic and international best-seller charts, ranking among the top fifty novels on several Amazon charts in the United States. The book was also the third-best-selling horror novel in Canada, ranking behind the Stephen King novels The Shining and its sequel Doctor Sleep.
“My love of reading, which has fueled so much of my personal and our company success, began when my mother let me read my first Stephen King book. To see my name alongside his has been a dream come true, and something I’m sure she would be proud of,” said McKissen.
The book’s success is also a testament to McKissen + Company’s ongoing commitment to deliver the best communication strategies and groundbreaking content to its list of growing clients.
“We work most frequently with civic organizations or businesses that operate in heavily regulated industries, so on the surface it may not make sense for one of our co-founders to publish a horror novel. However, a core value of McKissen + Company is that creativity is a muscle that can be flexed in any industry,” said Megan McKissen, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. “We bring the same commitment to our clients every day. That said, we are all very proud of Dustin’s success as a business writer and now novelist.”
The Poor and The Haunted can be purchased on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and directly from the publisher. Organizations interested in working with McKissen + Company can contact the company directly to learn more about our communications and marketing services.
